Champion HERT Powered by MRP: Aiming for for more wins in EWC Superstock 2026
38.
New number, new name, and a fresh rider lineup: the Champion HERT Powered by MRP Superstock team is ready to build on its 2025 success. The team has also worked hard to further improve the motorcycle for endurance racing.
Last season, the team proved its potential by winning both FIM EWC races it contested: the Spa 8 Hours and the 24h Bol d’Or.
For 2026, the team has had significantly more preparation time than before. The goal is clear: to secure more victories aboard the BMW Motorrad M1000RR in the Superstock class. The 2026 rider lineup features fast and experienced riders Loris Cresson (BE), Jan Bühn (GER), Bálint Kovács (HU), and Máté Számádó (HU).
Reactions
Werner Daemen (Team Owner):
“Our goal for 2026 is to finish in the top three of the championship and win at least one race. Preparations have gone incredibly well, and we are working with riders we know well from both the EWC and IDM (International German Championship). I want to extend a huge thank you to our sponsors, especially Champion Lubricants, Zalazone, Horeca Van Zon, and BMW Motorrad, as well as our own MRP Racing. I believe the Superstock category will become increasingly important in the world of endurance racing.”
Erico Casa (Team Manager & Crew Chief):
“Last year, Champion Lubricants approached us two months before the Spa 8 Hours race with the proposal to participate. After some consideration and securing the necessary budget, Team MRP Racing accepted the challenge. In just over a month, we assembled a team of qualified individuals, some of whom we had worked with in the past on various sprint championships, along with our IDM riders.
We prepared a motorcycle in the MRP Racing workshop with our mechanic, based on an IDM bike with some modifications for endurance racing.
The day before the Spa race, the four mechanics chosen for the endurance event came to MRP Racing, and we built the second motorcycle and spare parts, loaded the truck, and off we went for a fantastic and exciting week. To summarize the race, we took pole position and won, in front of our home crowd in Belgium, with a passionate motorcycle racing enthusiast who had never worked together before, and three very talented riders. It was an extraordinary experience that I will never forget.
After this excellent result, our sponsors asked us to participate in the 24 Hours of Bol d’Or. With a little more preparation time and some adjustments, and three new riders out of four, we also won the 24 Hours of Bol d’Or and finished 3rd in the World Championship after only competing in two out of the four races.
For 2026, we will compete in the entire championship. The main objective is to win the championship, but endurance racing is a very difficult discipline with so many factors that must align to achieve this goal.
We worked hard this winter to develop the motorcycle on points specific to endurance racing. I know very well that it won’t go like last year; there’s more pressure, we have to confirm our two last victorious races, and expectations are high.
Our strength lies in being a professional team with qualified and, above all, passionate people, having excellent equipment at our disposal, a very competitive BMW, very fast and experienced riders, and sponsors who have confidence in us.
THE CHAMPION TEAM HERT POWERED BY MRP IS READY TO FIGHT AT 150% TO WIN THIS TITLE.”
The first race of the season is the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans on April 18.
